The Final Project: An introduction

Vidya and I first needed to arrive at a possible disease or problem to target and create a device that would make the lives of those suffering from the disease a little earlier. We decided on asthma. below you will find our initial ideas for the device:

Name of Device: Asthma-Ox

Description of Device: This device is intended for patients of all ages suffering from chronic asthma. The device will measure a few baseline parameters such as pulse and body temperature. However, the focus of this device will be on a functional pulse oximeter that can be connected to Arduino. The device will periodically measure the oxygen level of the patient and transmit that data via Bluetooth to the computer (on the hour) where the computer will then convert that data to a percentage. If the patient’s oxygen level drops beyond a certain threshold, an alarm will sound and an LCD display will either let the patient know to take their inhaler or call 911.

  1. Hi!
Very nice idea and implementation! Would you like to share it to my blog? (medicarduino(dot)wordpress(dot)com)? It is a collection of health and medical projects build with Arduino .
    Thanks
